ISO 9001 Clause 7.1.2 People is subclause is the clause 7.1 Resources. This is a very small clause but have a wider and big scope, the clause says:
The organization shall determine and provide the persons necessary for the effective implementation of its quality management system and for the operation and control of its processes.
ISO 9001 Clause 7.1.2 People Importance
If you are working in a industry you must understand the importance of people, human resources are probably the most important resource of an industry.
There are two keywords in this clause:
- Determine
- Provide
Determine: You have to list down all possible key tasks and then estimate that in order to run the quality management system company-wide how many personnel / people (manpower) are required, what must be their competencies and experiences, type of job, can one person handle most jobs or you need specific professionals for specific jobs.
Provide: Once you have completed the above step of “determination” then you have to “provide” the people. Which means that you have to do the recruitment and selection of professionals and obviously this means budgeting and costing for them as well.
- Human resources arrangement for hiring and recruitment of the profesisonals
- Training and equippping the indivudals with the basic skills in order to fulfil QMS requirement
- Maintenance and retaining of the required individuals so that tasks been handled smoothly without disruptions
Documentation & Conclusion
The ISO 9001 clause 7.1.2 People consisting of very concise text with people meaning, however this clause does not required any documentation, but in order to fulfil this requirement of outlining the position and hiring them, a system must have set of documents like:
- Overall organizational chart
- Skills required in order to run the QMS
- Company workload
- Job descriptions
- Application forms
- Interview evaluation form
- Job offer letters
- Inductions trainings
